For the past few months, Adult colouring books have become really popular.
One of the reasons they have become popular is because colouring is now ‘back in’. I think they shouldn’t name them ‘Adult Colouring Books’ Because colouring can be for anyone no matter what colouring book you use.
But for many it is because they help with stress so much!
You might think ‘How does a colouring book help with stress?’ but you will be very surprised.
But colouring in can also be a way to pass time or for something to do with someone like your children or a friend,
I find them a good way to help de stress. Because you’re putting all your attention on colouring and what colour you want to use. It helps get your mind off things that are making you stressed and it helps to have a nice break and to clear your mind. You can colour for 5 minutes, 1 hour or more.
Sometimes you just get lost while colouring.
I love my two colouring books as I am in my third year of University and things are starting to get very stressful.
So I like to take my books and colours and fill out a page when things are getting too much, this helps me get my mind off things and relax for a while. So when It comes to going back to do work, my mind isn’t so stressed or filled with thoughts.
If you get very stress or anxious I highly recommend one of these colouring books. They are such a good cheap and nice way to help de stress and unwind.
‘According to psychologist, colouring is the best alternative to meditation.
Colouring allows to unlock your creative potential.
Perhaps more important, it helps relive tension and anxiety. It unlocks memories of childhood and simpler times.’
I got mine from Asda and Waterstones. You can get them from a lot of shops and they cost around £5-£20
‘The Time Garden will sweep you away into an enchanted world, created in intricate pen and ink by Korean artist Daria Song. Journey through the doors of the cuckoo clock and into its inky innerworkings to discover a magical land ready and waiting for you to customize with whatever colours you can dream up. The Time Garden is an international best-selling colouring book and this edition finally makes it available in English. Full of beautifully detailed illustrations, this is the perfect gift for colouring fans of all ages.’
This is the first Adult Colouring Book I bought. It stood out to me on the shelf as It’s a story book and a colouring book in one.
Every few pages it has a few sentences of a story about a little girl and the Time Garden.
I think this is a wonderful idea as you can colour all the pages in and then keep it as a book that you helped colour in.
Or you could colour it in and give it a gift to someone who enjoys reading. It’s not a huge story, it’s a nice simple one that is easy to ready and enjoy.
This book is very detailed and takes a lot of patience and time to colour in, so if you like a more detailed colouring book this one is for you.
I bought it for £5 from Asda but it is originally £9.99
‘Choose your colours, unleash your creativity and lose yourself in a wonderful, feline-filled coloured universe. As you focus on colouring in and forget the stresses of everyday life, you’ll find calm returning.’
This is the second colouring book I have bought. As soon as I walked into Waterstones and saw it on the shelf I knew I had to buy it! If you know me, you know I love cats. So this is the perfect colouring book for me to have and I love colouring all the little cats in. I find it so therapeutic and relaxing, I could colour all day if I had the day off. I love this book as each page is filled with lots of things to colour in.
The quality of the paper is these books are amazing, they are quite thick which means when you use coloured pens they don’t go through onto the other page and ruin that picture. You can use just about anything to colour these books in with.
If you love cats this will be the prefect colouring book for you! It would even make a nice present for someone.
It’s currently on offer for £6.74 in Waterstones
