Clinique – Pep-Start | Review

I have had my eye on the new Clinique Pep-Start collection since it has come out. I wanted to try the Pep-Start Eye Cream, Peep-Start HydroBlur Moisturiser and the Pep-Start Cleansing Swipes. I always go to Boots when I buy my Clinique products as I always find the ladies on Clinique so helpful and I also get Boots points.I went into Boots to pick up the Clinique Airbrush Concealer as I had run out that morning and I told the lady serving me about how I’d had my eye on the Pep-Start and she showed me this little Pep-Start mini kit. I decided to buy it as for £20 and 4 Clinique products you can’t really go wrong.

This little kit from Clinique consists of;

Pep-Start 2 in 1 Exfoliating Cleanser

Pep-Start Eye Cream

Peep-Start HydroBlur Moisturiser

High Impact Mascara

Pep-Start 2 in 1 Exfoliating Cleanser

By combining gentle cleansing with exfoliating power, this 2-in-1 formula takes away dirt, dulling dead skin cells, excess oil and impurities to give skin a smooth finish and a radiant glow. Preps skin for makeup. It is gentle enough to use twice a day.

How To Use

Wet face and hands.
Work a dime-sized amount into hands, lather and massage over skin.
Rinse well, avoiding eye area.
Follow with moisturizer.

This is very gentle on the skin and can be used as an every day cleanser. Most exfoliation washes are quite harsh on my skin and I need to use a heavy moisturiser after as my skin feels irritated but with this I do not have to use moisturiser.

It gets rid of all the grime from the day so you are left with a clean canvas to re apply your makeup or even just to take it all off.

Pep-Start Eye Cream

Hydrates, brightens, perks you up. It’s cool touch and de-puffing tip help keep eyes looking fresh. Smooths the way for makeup, too. Have it on hand.
Ophthalmologist Tested.

How To Use

Use twice a day, morning and night.
Gently squeeze a small amount of product onto applicator tip.
Swipe in circular motion around eye area, including lids.
Use finger to smooth in any excess until absorbed.
Reapply as needed throughout the day.

I really like this product as it is light on the eye area, hyrdates my skin and makes my under eyes look less dull and dark. It is good to use everyday and a little bit goes a long way so you do not have to use a lot of the product.

It is also perfect for prepping the eye area before applying concealer as it hydrates and I find my concealer does not go cakey after a while when using this eye cream.

Peep-Start HydroBlur Moistuiser

This lightweight, 24/7 hydrator provides matte moisturization, instantly blurs imperfections and preps for makeup.

How To Use

This multitasking moisturizer can be used 3 ways:

On clean skin for an instant filter and all day hydration.
As a perfect primer for foundation, tinted moisturizers or powder.
Throughout the day—over makeup—as needed
Avoid eye area.

This mosituriser is very light weight and sinks into the skin almost straight away so you are not waiting for it to dry. You do not need to use a lot of this product and it is not harsh on the skin. It does not have a perfumed smell and it also creates a smooth canvas for your makeup.

I also like the packaging of this moisturiser as it is cute and practical as you do not have to squeeze a tube or pump the moisturiser out.

High Impact Mascara

The Clinique mascara favourite in a waterproof version so you’re ready for anything. Instant volume and length that resists flaking, clumping and smudging.

I use this mascara for day wear as it gives the right amount of volume and length on your lashes without them going clumpy or applying to much product.

Overall

I like these Clinique Mini’s as you can try out some of the Pep-Start products without committing to the actual size products.

My favourites of these products are the Pep-Start Eye Cream and the Peep-Start HydroBlur Moisturiser. I am not a big fan of the Pep-Start 2 in 1 Exfoliating Cleanser but I still use it.

I do not like the added mascara they put in as it is always a little free gift with Clinique and even though it’s a good mascara and a use it for the day I have lots of them so would prefer to have something you do not usually get as a free gift.

I also LOVE the packaging of this range as it just pops and stands out and looks nice and bright on your dressing table.

The prices of the full products are;

Pep-Start 2 in 1 Exfoliating Cleanser – £16.50

Pep-Start Eye Cream -£22.00

Peep-Start HydroBlur Moistuiser  – £24.50

High Impact Mascara  – £17.50

You can find these online at Boots or Clinique.com or in store.

Real Techniques – Miracle Complexion Sponge
 Review

PicMonkey Collage-3.jpg

I came across the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge in ASDA when I was doing my food shop. I have seen everyone rave about beauty blenders but never thought of buying one as I rarely wear foundation so thought it would be a waste. Anyway, It was on offer so I decided to pick it up and give it a go.

Review

I tried the sponge out first with my Clinique Superbalanced Foundation, I put some of the foundation on the back of my hand and dotted it over my face using my finger. I then used the sponge to blend the product in. I found that the sponge soaks up more of the product then it did distributing and blending it in over my skin. I then tried it with my Clinique Airbrush Concealer, I found It blended the concealer more and it made it less cakey looking then it did when applied with my fingers or a foundation brush.

One of the things I like is how different sides of the sponge help apply different face product better. The pointed end is perfect for applying concealer as It can get under the eyes and around the nose better than a brush can.

Overall

Overall I must say I am not a huge fan of this product, I find that it soaks up more of the product you are using then it does distributing it over your skin. I only like it for blending concealer under my eyes and around my nose and I have not used it a lot since buying it. I know a lot of other people love beauty blenders but I will stick with my Stippling Brush when applying my base makeup.

Using the sponge also felt like I was blending the products in more then using the stippling brush as you have to dab the sponge around your face alot more so the product is all blended in.

This product is £5.99 and you can pick it up from Boots, Superdrug, Asda and other places or you can find it online here.
