L’Oreal Elvive – Dream Lengths Shampoo | Review

L’Oreal Elvive – Dream Lengths

L’Oreal Elvive brought out the Dream Lengths hair collection a while back. It is for achieving long hair without the breakage and spilt ends. A few years ago I ended up chopping my hip length hair to just below my shoulders as I killed the ends with bleaching it in my ombre phase.

Ever since then my hair has just not wanted to grow back to that length and I miss having long hair. While using the Lee Stafford Hair Growth collection it has helped my hair grow longer but my hair still gets so knotty and I still get a lot of spilt ends.

I came across this shampoo in Asda, I had seen the adverts for it and thought perfect, I will try this range as I really want my hip length hair back without the hassle.

Product Details

Dreaming of beautiful long hair but struggling to achieve your dream lengths?

The longer your hair gets, the more it goes through and the more damaged it becomes. Split ends appear and you feel like you need to trim your tips. What if  you could protect your hair and help reinforce its lengths?

Our creamy, caring shampoo is enriched with a cocktail of Keratin, Vitamins and Castor Oil. The formula cleanses and helps to reinforce the hair. It helps to protect against breakage and reduces the appearance of split ends.

How To Use

Apply to wet hair, massage into a lather and then rinse. Follow with L’Oreal Elvive Dream Lengths Long Hair Conditioner.

I have been using this product since March and have just finished the bottle.

I do not really like the smell of this product, it is not the nicest shampoo of their Elvive collection I have smelt but it does the job it says it will do so I can’t complain on the scent of this shampoo.

My hair is not as knotty as it normally is, I used to go out to work and come back home to find a knot had formed in the back of my hair and it was so painful and annoying to get these knots out, even using a wet brush. (Fine hair problems)

Since using this shampoo my hair is less knotty! I can even brush through it when its wet! Something I used to dread. It might not be the shampoo making my hair easy to comb through but its the product I’ve been using for months now so I am putting it down to that. So that is a huge plus to this shampoo as when your hair gets longer it gets more knotty. So this is a perfect shampoo to use if you have long hair.

I still get spilt ends but not as many which is good! So I can go that bit longer without a hair cut! Also my hair has is growing a lot better now, its gotten past the ‘I can’t do anything with my hair’ length stage! I think this is down to the shampoo plus it being paired with the Lee Stafford Hair Growth Range.

Overall I really like this shampoo and I would like to try out their other products in this range. I would buy this product again and use it while I am trying to achieve my Dream Length.

My friend Rachel has bought the conditioner and the hair mask so look out on her blog for her review of the product!

This product is £2.99 and can find it in most shops and online here.

Boots currently has 3 for 2 on these hair products.

L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Review

Review elvive oil

L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil

This product aims to;

1 Hair has a glowing shine

2 Feels intensely nourished

3 Flows with silky softness

4 Seems sumptuously smooth

5 Looks beautifully perfected

This product is amazing! My sister lent it to me last weekend as my hair was so dry and damaged at the ends and just horrible. I used two pumps after washing my hair and evenly put it throughout the ends of my hair, I then blow dried and wow let me just say my hair was soft and looked so much nicer! I didn’t think it was going to even make a difference but it even last’s till I next wash my hair! I’m so amazed at this product and how well its made my hair look and feel, my hair still snaps off at the ends but not as much as it did and you can hardly see my spilt ends!

I’ve never put anything into my hair especially things that have ‘oil’ in the name as I feel like it’s just going to make my hair greasy and weight it down, but this has made me think twice about those products now. It’s for coloured hair which is also as plus as I dye my hair a lot and it can get damaged by me constantly dying my hair. This product has done wonders to my hair and it will last ages as two pumps go a long way!

I rarely rave about products but i thought i needed to put my own review on this product as it’s actually a life saver for my dry ends and I’m so amazed at how well its made my hair look and feel after only one use! Big thanks to my sister for recommending it me as my hair is finally going back to its nice soft ends rather than frizzy breaking off ends!

You can pick this product up from boots for £8.49 or click here to look at the product online and the reviews.

How To Repair Damaged Hair

header 00

After trying to get my hair back to it’s natural colour my hair got really damaged in the process and kept snapping off. This wasn’t good for me because I’ve been trying to grow my hair and i then had to have 2/3 inches cut off because it was so damaged! These are the things i did to my hair to help repair and strengthen it back up. I would recommend reading reviews before using certain brands of hair dye as some can do more damage then good to you hair.

What I Used To Help Repair My Hair

L’Oreal Elvive – Thickening Masque

This first thing i did was use hair mask’s. There are a lot of hair masks out there but finding one that actually does the job it’s supposed to do can be hard. I’ve used many masks but i haven’t really noticed a difference in my hair. I then used John Frieda’s Full Repair Deep Conditioner (£5.89) I put this all over my hair when it was wet, put it in a bun and left it for 5-10 minutes, i then washed it off. The first time i used it i didn’t really notice a difference but after a while i started to see my spilt ends were not as noticeable and my hair wasn’t snapping off as much.

Mane ‘n’ Tail Shampoo & Conditioner

The next thing i did was find a Shampoo and Conditioner that would repair my hair and stop it from snapping off easily. I turned back to Mane ‘n Tail ( around £7 from amazon) as it helps grow hair and i heard it strengthens hair as well. After a month of using the shampoo i noticed such a huge difference in my hair, my hair wasn’t snapping off while i was washing my hair and it looks more healthy and my spilt ends were not as noticeable. I will always highly recommend this product because its help my hair grow and strengthen in a short time and always does wonders to my hair.

Tangel Teezer

I purchased a Tangle Teezer from boots. (£10.99) This hair brush is expensive but defiantly worth the money. I got recommend this by a friend and I’ve loved it ever since. As i have fine hair, my hair knots very easily, just going on a short walk can knot my hair so much if you have fine hair you will understand the pain. This brush helps get the knots out without hurting my scalp or pulling my hair out. Its gentle on the hair and prevents damaging it. Changing your hair brush sounds a little silly when talking about how to repair your hair but it’s such an improvement and can help just as much as using a hair mask as you brush your hair everyday and if your brush is ripping hair out each time you brush it its going to damage your hair even more.

Umberto Giannini – Mend My Hair Therapy

The last thing i did was try to find a product to help spilt ends. I searched high and low for a good product that wasn’t too pricy and did the job. After doing lots of research and not being able to find the product i wanted to try out i picked up the Umberto Giannini – Mend My Hair Therapy (£7.99) If i’m honest I’ve never heard of or used any of this brands products before. But i picked it up and gave it a go and I’m happy with the results. After I’ve washed my hair i take 2 little pumps and rub it between my hands, i then evenly put it through my hair focusing more on the ends of my hair. I used this every time i wash my hair and with using this product for a short to i noticed a difference with my spilt ends. Im not very keen on putting oily products in my hair but this has helped my ends a lot and is defiantly worth the price.

I’m happy with the results from these products as my hair was that bad and breaking i didn’t want to have to cut it again. These have helped repair my hair and get it back to the state it was in before i dyed it. I’ve tried to make sure some of these products are affordable but it can be hard finding affordable products that work as sometimes its easier to pay a little more for something that will benefit you in the long run.

Thank you for reading, I hope this post helped you.
