The science of coloured hair

Repeated washing, sun exposure, pollution and external aggressions can make coloured hair more sensitive. With time colour fades, losing its shine and intensity.

The secret to colour protection

The L’Oréal laboratories have created a formula which acts on 3 Dimensions of colour – Intensity, Luminosity, Reflection:

1 Maintains Colour Intensity: The new Colour-Seal Elixir™ has been developed to intensively condition, to help protect colour from fading and preserve its intensity.

2 Protects Hair: The formula enriched with UVA/UVB Filters protects coloured hair from external aggressions. Hair looks full of life.

3 Prolongs Radiance: The formula with Concentrated Nourishment intensely nourishes the hair and smoothes its surface. Shine is revived and radiance is prolonged.

Proven results

Intense, radiant colour: 80% of colour radiance maintained after 28 washes*

*Instrumental test after application of shampoo, conditioner and Extraordinary oil for coloured hair.

How to Use

I get my hair dyed and I always want to try and keep the colour vibrant and shiny as long as I can.

I love the L’Oreal Elvive range and did not know that they had a colour protect caring range.I came across this colour protect caring shampoo and conditioner in superdrug on offer. I do not normally use conditioner but decided to give both ago.

I have been using this for around a month now I wanted to make sure I used it for a while before I blogged about it so I could see if it actually does what it says it will. After using it every time I washed my hair, it made my hair always looks nice and shiny and still looks freshly dyed. My hair does not look dull which is amazing as when you dye your hair you do not want it to look dull after a month or more.

IMG_3306.JPG

This shampoo does not weigh my hair down and and using the conditioner only on my ends help to keep my hair looking nice and shiny without looking weighed down.

I am impressed with this as some shampoos can pull the colour out of your hair and because this is for colour protection it helps lock the colour in and keep it nice before you dye your hair again.

IMG_3309.JPG

I would highly recomend this shampoo and conditioner to anyone who wants to keep their hair colour looking fresh for as long as possible!

The first picture is when I got my hair dyed and the second picture was taken around a month later and you can see how it helps keep my colour looking new!

Lee Stafford – My Big Fat Healthy Hair Shampoo | Review

IMG_3227.JPG

Lee Stafford – My Big Fat Healthy Hair

So this is another Lee Stafford review as lately I am loving his Hair Growth product range and decided to try some of his other hair products out. I have tried his Hair Growth range and you can see the review on the Hair Growth: Shampoo and Hair Mask here or the Hair Growth: Leave In Treatment here.

IMG_3228.JPG

Review

‘With PRO-VOLUME™ Complex for bigger, fuller fatter hair. Lee Stafford My Big Fat Healthy Hair shampoo boosts hair’s body and texture, enhances gloss and shine, and banishes dulling deposits that make hair go lank and limp. The PRO-VOLUME™ Complex is a combination of hair conditioning agents to add volume.’

You use this like normal shampoo, you massage it into your hair from roots to tip. Then rinse, repeat and use your conditioner.

I love this smell of this product and it does linger on the hair but not for a long time.
The one thing I do not like about this product is that it lathers a little too much, so you do not need much of the product. This may not sound like a bad thing for a shampoo, but it lathers that much I spend more time rinsing it out to make sure it all out of my hair.

IMG_3231

The thing that drew me into buying this shampoo was the ‘Pro Volume for Fatter Hair’.
My hair is quite thin and can sometimes look very limp and I like to use products that add that bit of volume without weighing my hair down. So when I saw that it helps to keep hair looking thicker and fuller I had to pick it up and try it out.

It does not give my hair loads of volume but I can tell it looks less thin and limp. It does not dry my hair out or weigh it down which is a great as you don’t want your shampoo doing that. It makes my hair look and feel so much nicer and also helps it feel thicker.

It has not done wonders to my hair but overall it is a good shampoo but if your looking for a shampoo to make your hair appear thicker and fuller this might not do that.

Another point for people who dye their hair, It does not strip any colour out of your hair so do not worry about it stripping the colour out.

This shampoo is £5.99 and you can find it here.

Have you tried this product out or any of the Lee Stafford Products?

Lee Stafford – Hair Growth: Leave In Treatment | Review

Lee Stafford – Hair Growth: Leave in Treatment

I am a huge fan of the Lee Stafford Hair Growth range. Last year around this time I bought the Lee Stafford Hair Growth shampoo and hair mask. Since then it has been one of my go to hair products as my hair was stuck at the awkward shoulder length and did not seem to grow or want to grow. I tried a lot of other things like cutting out using heat on my hair and stopped dying it before finding the Lee Stafford range. Since using this I have noticed that my hair is finally starting to grow a lot more and it a lot more healthy looking as well as feeling!
You can find my review on those products here.

Lee Stafford Hair Growth – Shampoo & Mask Review

Lee Stafford – Leave In Treatment

After using the shampoo and hair mask for a year now, I noticed they had a leave in treatment hair spray from the same range. At first I did not want to use this as I thought it would weigh my hair down or make it look greasy. As I said in a previous blog post, I am not a huge fan of putting oils and products in my hair as sometimes they make my hair go greasy and do more bad then good in my eyes.

I decided to pick it up and give it a go. I was happy when I got back home and tried it out as it smells like the other products and I am a huge fan of the smell. It lingers for ages and smells so refreshing. I have only been using this for 2 weeks so I have not noticed a huge difference in my hair growth like I have with the two other Lee Stafford products. This product is light on your hair and after applying it and drying your hair it is not even noticeable and does not look like you have not put any products in your hair.

Ombre At Home | September 2015

Ombre At Home

So I know the ‘Ombre’ Hair trend isn’t as huge as it was, but I personally still love the hair style and so does my sister.

My sister has had ombre hair for a while now and her hair was down to her hips, she recently got it cut to just below her shoulders and only an inch was showing of her ombre. So she asked me to re-do it for her and I took the opportunity to also blog about it incase you want to do this to your hair without forking out to have it do in a hairdressers.

Ombre is such an easy thing to do.

Here is my tips on how to Ombre your hair at home!

before

Before You Begin

Please note that your hair will dye better if its ‘Virgin hair’ meaning you haven’t dyed it before.
If you have dyed your hair it might take a little longer and another application before it turns out perfect.
Make sure you test the bleach on your skin 48 hours before you use it to make sure you are not allergic to it.

Lee Stafford – Hair Growth Review

elestafford1

Lee Stafford have a range of hair treatments that are aimed at people who’s hair doesn’t grow past a certain length. I used to have hip length hair then chopped it all off to my shoulders, I regretted this weeks after and my hair now is taking ages to grow. So i’ve decided to try these products out and see if they work.

There’s a lot of products out there that claim to help ‘grow your hair’ but most of these are expensive and don’t work, I’ve tried my fair share of these products and most end up making me feel disappointed.

leestafford

What i love about Lee Stafford products are the smell! They smell so divine and the smell actually stays in your hair throughout the day. My mum years back used one of these products and i always remember sneaking into her room and spraying it in my hair as it smelt so nice, so it kind of brought back memories when i got these the other day.

Lee Stafford – Hair Growth Shampoo

At £7.49 this  is a bit expensive to me for a shampoo that s only 200ml but i decided to bite the bullet and see if it would work for me as the reviews on the Boot’s website were all positive feedback.

I love the smell of this and i love how even a day after using it i could still smell it in my hair. Ive been using it for a few washes now and haven’t noticed a difference but i don’t think i will until I’ve used it for about a month or more. Even if it helps my hair grow a tiny bit i will be happy as my hair seems to be not growing at all.

How it works;

‘A protein based shampoo to fertilise your follicles, creating a healthy environment on the scalp, giving bed body and fullness, whilst strengthening the hair and helping it to reach id maximum potential length.’

So basically this product helps fertilise your hair follicles which help the hair grow, it also strengthens and gives your hair body. All this is great as i have very fine hair and i try to use products that help thicken my hair.

After using this on my hair i then half dry it and leave the rest to air dry, it made my hair feel and look amazing, i sometimes get dry ends and it made my dry ends go and give my hair a nice shine and feel to it. This shampoo has already got my vote as it just makes my hair smell and feel lush. This shampoo does not dry your hair out so thats also a plus.

Lee Stafford – Hair Growth Treatment

How It Works;

“If the earth’s not nourished, you’ll never grow beautiful flowers” is the philosophy behind Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment. Its vital hair and scalp complex helps to reduce hair loss. It improves follicle health which in turn increases the ability of the hair to anchor to the scalp. The soothing formulation reduces irritation and moisturises the scalp. It addresses hair and scalp ageing at a cellular level whilst providing an improvement in tensile strength to give body and texture by penetrating the hair reaching the inner cortex. Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment also improves the volume and feel of the hair.

You use this hair treatment after using the shampoo, you take an egg size portion and massage it into the scalp and then you leave it on your hair 5 minutes. Then you rinse it off and apply the conditioner, you only use this once a week. I found this easy to use, it’s non sticky and was to apply to your hair and roots.

This also smells lush and does not weigh your hair down or leave it feeling too soft. It’s a nice treatment to use on your hair once a week as this also helps strengthen your hair and its kind of a two in one treatment for your hair which is amazing.

I’ve been keeping track of my hair length while using these so another review will be coming up in a couple of weeks/months about this product to see if it does help.

If you have hair that does not seem to be growing and your willing to spend a bit more money for a shampoo and treatment i recommend this brand as i don’t think it will let you down.

What help’s you grow your hair?

L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Review

Review elvive oil

L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil

This product aims to;

1 Hair has a glowing shine

2 Feels intensely nourished

3 Flows with silky softness

4 Seems sumptuously smooth

5 Looks beautifully perfected

This product is amazing! My sister lent it to me last weekend as my hair was so dry and damaged at the ends and just horrible. I used two pumps after washing my hair and evenly put it throughout the ends of my hair, I then blow dried and wow let me just say my hair was soft and looked so much nicer! I didn’t think it was going to even make a difference but it even last’s till I next wash my hair! I’m so amazed at this product and how well its made my hair look and feel, my hair still snaps off at the ends but not as much as it did and you can hardly see my spilt ends!

I’ve never put anything into my hair especially things that have ‘oil’ in the name as I feel like it’s just going to make my hair greasy and weight it down, but this has made me think twice about those products now. It’s for coloured hair which is also as plus as I dye my hair a lot and it can get damaged by me constantly dying my hair. This product has done wonders to my hair and it will last ages as two pumps go a long way!

I rarely rave about products but i thought i needed to put my own review on this product as it’s actually a life saver for my dry ends and I’m so amazed at how well its made my hair look and feel after only one use! Big thanks to my sister for recommending it me as my hair is finally going back to its nice soft ends rather than frizzy breaking off ends!

You can pick this product up from boots for £8.49 or click here to look at the product online and the reviews.

Clairol Nice’n Easy Hair Dye Review

beauty product review

IMG_1180IMG_1181

Hi, I’m back with another hair dye review! This time i decided to try a different brand as i was looking for a more natural black hair dye. I stumbled across this Nice’N Easy one in Bodycare. The reason i decided to re dye my hair was because my ombre was feeling a little dry and i wanted to dye my whole hair and give it a rest for a while before i re did the ombre.

The hair dye is £4.49 in bodycare and i got the shade 122 which is a natural black.

about this product

This hair dye was easy to prepare the mix and also very easy to apply. Because this is a dark colour when you apply it to your hair you can automatically see where you have put it and where you have missed.

I start by parting my hair at my ears and putting the rest in a clip. I then apply the product to my roots then start going down the hair. I repeat this until all my hair is covered, if you have any dye left in the bottle i always pour it onto my hands and then rub into my scalp and ends to check I have got everything.

This product smells alright and doesn’t leave a nasty hair dye smell after you have used it.

The gloves are great because they actually fit my hands whereas most hair dye gloves are way too big and I find it hard apply the product with them.

The conditioner you get is amazing! the smell is nice and it left my hair not feeling or looking shiny which I hate! I don’t use conditioner the only times I do is if my hair needs some treatment or if I’ve dyed it.

With using such a dark dye i would recommend you covering your hair-line, ears and back of the neck with Vaseline as it can stain your skin and its a pain to get off.

I recommend this hair dye as it isn’t damaging to your hair, it comes out the colour it says on the box and is also affordable.

Here’s the end product

What are your favourite hair dyes?

*If anyone dyes their hair and uses a natural medium brown colour please leave it in the comments as I’m trying to go back to my natural colour and I can’t find the right shade. Thank you! *
