Clinique – Pep-Start | Review

I have had my eye on the new Clinique Pep-Start collection since it has come out. I wanted to try the Pep-Start Eye Cream, Peep-Start HydroBlur Moisturiser and the Pep-Start Cleansing Swipes. I always go to Boots when I buy my Clinique products as I always find the ladies on Clinique so helpful and I also get Boots points.I went into Boots to pick up the Clinique Airbrush Concealer as I had run out that morning and I told the lady serving me about how I’d had my eye on the Pep-Start and she showed me this little Pep-Start mini kit. I decided to buy it as for £20 and 4 Clinique products you can’t really go wrong.

This little kit from Clinique consists of;

Pep-Start 2 in 1 Exfoliating Cleanser

Pep-Start Eye Cream

Peep-Start HydroBlur Moisturiser

High Impact Mascara

Pep-Start 2 in 1 Exfoliating Cleanser

By combining gentle cleansing with exfoliating power, this 2-in-1 formula takes away dirt, dulling dead skin cells, excess oil and impurities to give skin a smooth finish and a radiant glow. Preps skin for makeup. It is gentle enough to use twice a day.

How To Use

Wet face and hands.
Work a dime-sized amount into hands, lather and massage over skin.
Rinse well, avoiding eye area.
Follow with moisturizer.

This is very gentle on the skin and can be used as an every day cleanser. Most exfoliation washes are quite harsh on my skin and I need to use a heavy moisturiser after as my skin feels irritated but with this I do not have to use moisturiser.

It gets rid of all the grime from the day so you are left with a clean canvas to re apply your makeup or even just to take it all off.

Pep-Start Eye Cream

Hydrates, brightens, perks you up. It’s cool touch and de-puffing tip help keep eyes looking fresh. Smooths the way for makeup, too. Have it on hand.
Ophthalmologist Tested.

How To Use

Use twice a day, morning and night.
Gently squeeze a small amount of product onto applicator tip.
Swipe in circular motion around eye area, including lids.
Use finger to smooth in any excess until absorbed.
Reapply as needed throughout the day.

I really like this product as it is light on the eye area, hyrdates my skin and makes my under eyes look less dull and dark. It is good to use everyday and a little bit goes a long way so you do not have to use a lot of the product.

It is also perfect for prepping the eye area before applying concealer as it hydrates and I find my concealer does not go cakey after a while when using this eye cream.

Peep-Start HydroBlur Moistuiser

This lightweight, 24/7 hydrator provides matte moisturization, instantly blurs imperfections and preps for makeup.

How To Use

This multitasking moisturizer can be used 3 ways:

On clean skin for an instant filter and all day hydration.
As a perfect primer for foundation, tinted moisturizers or powder.
Throughout the day—over makeup—as needed
Avoid eye area.

This mosituriser is very light weight and sinks into the skin almost straight away so you are not waiting for it to dry. You do not need to use a lot of this product and it is not harsh on the skin. It does not have a perfumed smell and it also creates a smooth canvas for your makeup.

I also like the packaging of this moisturiser as it is cute and practical as you do not have to squeeze a tube or pump the moisturiser out.

IMG_3513.JPG

High Impact Mascara

The Clinique mascara favourite in a waterproof version so you’re ready for anything. Instant volume and length that resists flaking, clumping and smudging.

I use this mascara for day wear as it gives the right amount of volume and length on your lashes without them going clumpy or applying to much product.

Overall

I like these Clinique Mini’s as you can try out some of the Pep-Start products without committing to the actual size products.

My favourites of these products are the Pep-Start Eye Cream and the Peep-Start HydroBlur Moisturiser. I am not a big fan of the Pep-Start 2 in 1 Exfoliating Cleanser but I still use it.

I do not like the added mascara they put in as it is always a little free gift with Clinique and even though it’s a good mascara and a use it for the day I have lots of them so would prefer to have something you do not usually get as a free gift.

I also LOVE the packaging of this range as it just pops and stands out and looks nice and bright on your dressing table.

The prices of the full products are;

Pep-Start 2 in 1 Exfoliating Cleanser – £16.50

Pep-Start Eye Cream -£22.00

Peep-Start HydroBlur Moistuiser  – £24.50

High Impact Mascara  – £17.50

You can find these online at Boots or Clinique.com or in store.

Real Techniques – Miracle Complexion Sponge | Review

Real Techniques – Miracle Complexion Sponge
 Review

PicMonkey Collage-3.jpg

I came across the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge in ASDA when I was doing my food shop. I have seen everyone rave about beauty blenders but never thought of buying one as I rarely wear foundation so thought it would be a waste. Anyway, It was on offer so I decided to pick it up and give it a go.

Review

I tried the sponge out first with my Clinique Superbalanced Foundation, I put some of the foundation on the back of my hand and dotted it over my face using my finger. I then used the sponge to blend the product in. I found that the sponge soaks up more of the product then it did distributing and blending it in over my skin. I then tried it with my Clinique Airbrush Concealer, I found It blended the concealer more and it made it less cakey looking then it did when applied with my fingers or a foundation brush.

One of the things I like is how different sides of the sponge help apply different face product better. The pointed end is perfect for applying concealer as It can get under the eyes and around the nose better than a brush can.

Overall

Overall I must say I am not a huge fan of this product, I find that it soaks up more of the product you are using then it does distributing it over your skin. I only like it for blending concealer under my eyes and around my nose and I have not used it a lot since buying it. I know a lot of other people love beauty blenders but I will stick with my Stippling Brush when applying my base makeup.

Using the sponge also felt like I was blending the products in more then using the stippling brush as you have to dab the sponge around your face alot more so the product is all blended in.

This product is £5.99 and you can pick it up from Boots, Superdrug, Asda and other places or you can find it online here.

NSPA – Deep Cleansing Mud Mask | Review

IMG_3370.JPG

NSPA – Deep Cleansing Mud Mask

A Dead-sea mineral mud mask to treat and refresh the skin for a beautiful complexion.

With Dead-Sea minerals, natural Beeswax and Seaweed extracts to deeply cleanse the pores and replenish tire skin.

How To Use

Apply to clean, damp skin with your fingertips, avoiding the immediate eye area. Relax and enjoy for up to 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water and gently pat dry.

Most Sunday evenings I like to have a pamper day….who doesn’t?
I love to have a hot bubble bath, put a good film on my TV, apply a hair mask to my hair and put a face mask on.

I have ran out of my Lush face masks and do not have any others so I went to ASDA (my local supermarket)  in search of a face mask because you can’t have a pamper day without a good face mask! I found this NSPA mask in the beauty isle and I have never heard of this brand before.

I picked it up because I wanted to try it out and as it comes in a small packet I knew if i did not like it I would not have wasted money or product.

2.jpg

Review

My first impression of this face mask was that even though it is a little packet, you do get a lot of product in it. You can get around 3-4 face masks out of this if you use it evenly, which I found great. Because you can get more then one use out of this packet and it is obliviously not reseable. I suggest folding the top over and holding it with a clip or putting it into an empty container to stop it from drying out.

The product is not messy,  as it is a clay mask it is a thick consitensy which is easily spreadable on the skin. It dries quite fast and it goes lighter when it is fully dry so you know when to wash it off. When on the skin it is not harsh and when drying it can itch a little but that is all.

Once dried I took a face cloth, soaked it in water and wiped the mask off my skin. It was easy to remove which I like as nobody likes a face mask that is hard to remove and messy.

IMG_3383.JPG

Overall

My skin felt really nice and smooth after using this, I thought my skin also looked nicer. My skin did not feel irritable after using this face mask and I just put my favourite moisturiser on after taking the mask off.

I would recommend buying if you are looking for a new face mask to try as you can buy the small packet to try it out and then if you like it you can buy the bigger tub.

This product is £1.59 in ASDA and you can find the full products on the NSPA website here.

Have you tried out any of NSPA products?
What is your favourite face mask?

Review

Previous from my other Clinique blog post, I also picked up this Clinique Airbrush Concealer. The sales assistant at Clinique also chose the colour that matched my skin colour perfectly and also tried this on my under eyes as well as a few blemishes to see what I thought of it before buying it.

This is the one of the great things I love about Clinique is that they will happily match you up to the products, try it out on you and let you walk around for a while with whatever product you are testing on to see if you like it.

This Airbrushed Concealer is a lightweight concealer that is light to medium coverage. When I put it on my under eyes it not only makes my dark circles less visible but it also brightens the area as well. It helps cover blemishes and redness well without leaving your skin cakey.

I have worn this on long days out and also in hot weather and it has not run or come off which is great. The brush applicator lets you easily place the product in the are which is needed, I then like to blend it in with my Real Techniques Stippling brush.

The only bad thing about this concealer is you can not tell when it is running out!

L’Oréal Elvive Colour Protect Caring Shampoo & Conditioner | Review

The science of coloured hair

Repeated washing, sun exposure, pollution and external aggressions can make coloured hair more sensitive. With time colour fades, losing its shine and intensity.

The secret to colour protection

The L’Oréal laboratories have created a formula which acts on 3 Dimensions of colour – Intensity, Luminosity, Reflection:

1 Maintains Colour Intensity: The new Colour-Seal Elixir™ has been developed to intensively condition, to help protect colour from fading and preserve its intensity.

3 Prolongs Radiance: The formula with Concentrated Nourishment intensely nourishes the hair and smoothes its surface. Shine is revived and radiance is prolonged.

Proven results

Intense, radiant colour: 80% of colour radiance maintained after 28 washes*

*Instrumental test after application of shampoo, conditioner and Extraordinary oil for coloured hair.

How to Use

Work through the lengths of your hair, right to the tips, and then rinse. Follow with Colour Protect Conditioner, or for even more care and protection, try Colour Protect Masque.

IMG_3303

I get my hair dyed and I always want to try and keep the colour vibrant and shiny as long as I can.

I love the L’Oreal Elvive range and did not know that they had a colour protect caring range.I came across this colour protect caring shampoo and conditioner in superdrug on offer. I do not normally use conditioner but decided to give both ago.

I have been using this for around a month now I wanted to make sure I used it for a while before I blogged about it so I could see if it actually does what it says it will. After using it every time I washed my hair, it made my hair always looks nice and shiny and still looks freshly dyed. My hair does not look dull which is amazing as when you dye your hair you do not want it to look dull after a month or more.

IMG_3306.JPG

This shampoo does not weigh my hair down and and using the conditioner only on my ends help to keep my hair looking nice and shiny without looking weighed down.

I am impressed with this as some shampoos can pull the colour out of your hair and because this is for colour protection it helps lock the colour in and keep it nice before you dye your hair again.

IMG_3309.JPG

I would highly recomend this shampoo and conditioner to anyone who wants to keep their hair colour looking fresh for as long as possible!

The first picture is when I got my hair dyed and the second picture was taken around a month later and you can see how it helps keep my colour looking new!

You can find this product in most shops.

Clinique Superbalanced Foundation | Review

IMG_6444.jpegClinique Superbalanced Foundation

‘Provides comfortable moderate coverage, imparting a natural finish. Absorbs oil where needed. Minimises the appearance of fine lines. Stays true to colour.Contains anti-oxidants and anti-irritants. Streak proof, perspiration proof. Non-acnegenic, oil free and Ophthalmologist tested.’

I have been after a new foundation for a while and I decided to try out some from Clinique. I always go into the Boots in manchester when buying from Clinique, I love the sales assistants who work there as they are always so helpful and kind.

IMG_8150

I told one of the ladies I was after a new foundation and I wanted a dewy finish that was a light coverage which is build buildable. She recommended me the Superbalenced foundation and found my colour match and applied it to my face so I could see whether or not I liked it. I wore it for the rest of the day while shopping and I liked how subtle it was on my skin and how fresh and even it made my skin look. It did not go cakey which sold it to me as I hate when foundation looks cakey on the skin.

IMG_0038.jpeg

With this foundation, a little goes a long way. I apply dots of it onto my face then I take my Real Techniques Stippling brush and work it into my skin until it is blended. Then I apply concealer if needed and then set it all with some powder. It stays on my face throughout the day without needed any touch ups.

IMG_4102

I have been using this foundation for around 4 months now and it has not broke out my skin or dried it up. If I am wearing foundation I like to use a heavy moisturiser so this foundation sits on the skin without drying it.

PicMonkey Collage

As you can see the foundation blends into my skin without it being noticeable. The colour match is the perfect match for me and if you are interested it trying this foundation out you can always go to your nearest Clinique store and ask if you can try it on throughout the day to see if you like it.

IMG_6825

This foundation is perfect for anyone who likes minimal looking makeup and does not wear foundation a lot. It blends nicely into your skin and looks natural. I love using this foundation on days where I want a bit more coverage and want my skin looking more even.

This foundation is on the more high end price at £22.50 but I think it is worth the price. You can find it at Clinique online or in store and also in Boots.

Little Letters by El – Review

IMG_3265.JPG

Little Letters by El

My friend has her own small business, she makes personalised letters that can be bought as either gifts or for yourself.
Since she started making them, I have had my eye on them as they always look so nice and perfect for either a gift for someones birthday or for yourself as decoration in your bedroom. When I turned 21 she made me a floral print K and I was so happy with my hand made gift.

I think Little Letters by El is such a unique gift idea and she also makes them in different fabric prints and they are also affordable.

Even the bag it comes packaged in is adorable!

Little Letters by El.jpg

Ellie even adds a personalised tag which I think is a nice touch to the gift.

Little Letters by El 2

The personalised letter adds a nice touch to you bedroom. They are also so detailed and well made, I also love the little flower that she has made and added to the K as she knows I love flowers so it is a nice touch to my personalised letter.

These letters can be personalised how ever you want and they are only £8 each, If you are interested in buying one email Ellie at little.letters.by.el@gmail.com. In the email make sure you tell her which letter you want, what print and the colour.
