Maintaining Healthy Hair

Maintaining Healthy Hair

Lots of people want thick or long hair or both and the best way to achieving this is by looking after your hair and ensuring that it is healthy and in its’ best condition. I have been researching ways of achieving this and have finally found products that work!

I have added three new products to my hair care routine to help achieve thick, long hair.  These products were recommended by @naomibouncyblows. Naomi is a hairdresser at a salon myself and my sister get our nails done at, she has recently started to do live videos on her instagram page where she does step by step videos on how she does curly blows and also gives hair care tips.

Like every girl I go through stages of wanting shorter hair when my hair is long and longer hair after I’ve cut it all off. Currently I’m back wanting to grow my hair back out so when I saw Naomi recommend two of these products to help hair growth and also to maintain healthy hair I decided to purchase them.

It is hard to find the perfect products for my hair as some products can make my hair go greasy quickly as I have fine hair. However, I have loved these and they have worked well on my hair.

Wet Brush

The Wet Brush’s IntelliFlex® bristles are super thin, strong and flexible. These bristles will glide through any hair type combing out tangles effortlessly. The bristles’ flexibility enables protective and pain-free detangling while the SofTips™ on the very top of the bristles massage the scalp to stimulate circulation at the follicle. They are firm enough to comb through knots, yet flexible enough to be gentle on the scalp. Our IntelliFlex® bristles bounce back to their original form after each stroke eliminating all the hair breakage and pain that used to be associated with brushing your hair. The Wet Brush can be used on wet or dry hair and works on extensions and wigs.

Review

I used to use Tangle Teezers because my hair is very knotty, especially after washing it. I then read a blog post where someone had the Wet Brush and they said it was so much better on finer hair so I bought one from Boots. I absolutely love this brush! I find that it glides easily through my hair and gets rid of all the knots and is pain-free.

Recently the ends of the brush have started to fall off and I was in need of a new brush. I thought the price was too expensive for a hair brush but then I went into Homesense with my mum last week and found this Wet Brush for only £3.99!! It is normally £11.99 in Boots and other stores! So if you like this brush as much as I do, you can find them in Homesense for a bargain!  I do not get a lot of hair falling out when using this brush and it also helps get knots out quickly and pain free!

I picked mine up from Homesense for £3.99, I can’t post the online link as they do not have one so I will post a link for Boots here.

Review

I have never used this hair care brand before but @naomibouncyblows  recommended it. I picked it up from my local Tesco and thought I would try it out. I only picked up the shampoo as I don’t use condition. Because I have fine hair so I find conditioners tend to make my hair feels finer and also I can’t do anything with my hair because it goes too soft.

I have used this for 2 weeks now and I really like it!
It smells nice, it isn’t too strong or a perfume smell but it does leave your hair smelling lovely! It also lathers up so you feel like your hair is getting a good wash. I feel like it also really cleans my hair as sometimes you can get build up from products that you use on your hair, so I feel this really cleans them all out. It leaves my hair feeling so clean and isn’t heavy on my hair.

These do cost £7 which is a little pricy but I highly recommend it!

You can find them instores or online here.

Biotin

I also bought Biotin tablets because they was recommended  by Naomi, you can buy these from Amazon and get a year worth of tablets which you take daily. As the dosage is high you only need to take 1 a day, which is fab if you don’t like to take tablets. They are also really small and easy to take. I take these once a day with a meal, which is recommended, and I’ve been taking them for a couple months now. I’ve actually noticed a big difference, not just with my hair but with my nails, they grow back so much faster then normal and they are not as brittle. My hair feels so much healthier and thicker too.

I do recommend these if your trying to grow your hair as it does help with the grown and health of your hair, but also helps your nails grow too! I will do another review on these when I’ve been taking them for half a year to show you the progress.

You can find these on Amazon and they are £16.97 and find it here.

Floral Scrunchie

IMG_3734.JPG

I picked up a floral scruchie because I have to tie my hair up for work and with some bobbles they can snap your hair. So I swapped bobbles for a scrunchie to avoid any unnecessary damage. Also If you follow Naomi you know that she wears these nightly to hold in her curly blows.

I picked mine up from Matalan and it was £4.00, you can find it instore on online here.

Have you tried out any of these products?

Hair Products For Fine Hair

3

IMG_1038IMG_1039

If you are like me and have fine hair and envy anyone who has thick luscious hair this post might help you achieve being one step closer to getting thicker hair without having to break the piggy bank for expensive extensions.

These are hair products that I’ve used for months and have worked the best to help achieve thicker looking and feeling hair. I have some affordable one’s and one that is a little pricy but works amazingly.

Mane ‘N Tail Shampoo & Conditioner

Mane ‘N Tail was originally made for horses hair. Don’t be put off using this product because it also actually helps hair grow faster. (I will be doing a review on this) I feel like this product really helps make hair feel thicker and it also strengthens hair. I use this every other day on my hair and it has a nice smell to it and the smell lingers hours after you have washed your hair. Ive been using this for a little over a year and i can tell a huge difference in my hair, it has helped my spilt ends and my hair always looks clean and shiny.

I purchased this product on amazon as it doesn’t sell in the UK,it’s £7.09 for both shampoo and conditioner 355ml.

L’Oreal: Elvive Fibrology

This is a very recent hair thickening product that L’Oreal has brought out. It has the shampoo and conditioner, hair mask and the thickness booster. Ive used the hair mask as a treatment after I’ve dyed my hair and when my hair starts to feel dry. I use the Shampoo in alternative with the Mane ‘N Tail shampoo. I really like the smell to these products as the smell is strong enough for you to smell it on your hair. Your supposed to use the thickness booster with conditioner but i don’t use conditioner so i just add it to my shampoo and live it a little longer in my hair. I find these products do the job, not as much as the Mane ‘N Tail but you can feel a difference and it makes your hair look less fine and limp looking.

I purchased these from boots, i got them when there was an offer. The Shampoo is £2.99 The thickness booster is £5.99 which i find a little expensive for the amount you get and the thickening mask is £5.09.

Lush: Big Sea Salt Shampoo

I absolutely love this product and i defiantly would recommend it to people who have fine hair. I use this every other time i wash my hair instead of Mane ‘n Tail or the Elvive. I take a little in my hand and rub it between my palms i then spread it over my head and massage it into my hair, i leave it on for a little bit and then i wash it all out. It smells nice and it makes my hair feel so volumized and thicker! I don’t use this every time i wash my hair as it can be quite drying to my hair. This is one of the best products I’ve purchased for my hair as it makes it actually look and feel thicker and I’ve noticed such a difference using this product. Ive had this for a few months now and it never fails me.

I purchased this from Lush for £12.25 it’s a lot of money for how much you get but i really recommend it as it does the job.

John Frieda: Luxurious Volume Thickening Mousse

I’ve tried my fair share of thickening mousses, and some have made my hair feel greasy or have dried funny and left my hair feeling hard. I took a chance and picked this up and i really like it. I take a small amount of the mousse into my hands then i put half into my roots and the rest through my hair, i then flip my hair upside down and blow dry it to make sure all the product is dry. It gives me volume and some thickness and doesn’t make my hair feel sticky or clump up my hair.

I purchased this from boots and it’s £4.99

John Frieda: Root Booster

I use this before i use the mousse, i spray it on my roots flip my hair up and then blow dry it. It doesn’t leave your hair feeling sticky and it actually helps boost your roots a bit. Its £5.79 from boots.

I hope this post helps with anyone who has fine hair and are trying to achieve getting thicker looking hair. Some of the products are affordable if you are on a budget. If you would like more of a review before you purchase any of these products feel free to ask.
